Seminole County, Florida Inmate Search

Seminole County inmate search refers to the methods for locating inmate information in Seminole County, Florida. The county operates one main adult correctional facility, the John E. Polk Correctional Facility. The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office manages the facility and processes over 20,000 bookings annually. Depending on the nature of the offense, individuals may be transferred from county custody to state prisons or federal correctional facilities, which can complicate the search process.

To address this, county and state authorities offer a variety of public-facing resources for accessing inmate-related information. Available records may include arrests, bookings, custody status, and case dispositions.

In addition, city police departments, such as the Sanford Police Department and the Altamonte Springs Police Department, may maintain separate jail rosters that reflect local arrests, initial detention, and subsequent transfers to state or federal penitentiaries.

How to Find an Inmate in Seminole County Jail

John E. Polk Correctional Facility is managed by the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, which also serves as the county’s primary law enforcement agency. The Sheriff’s Office allows the public to search for inmates currently being held in the John E. Polk jail through their official website.

The search process involves visiting the Sheriff’s website and navigating to the Current Inmate search page. On the page, individuals may search for specific inmates by Name, Booking Number, Age, Race, and Gender.

For further inquiries, contact the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office using the information provided below:

How to Use the Seminole County Jail Roster

To use the search system on the Sheriff website:

  • Visit the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office website
  • Locate the menu at the top of the Home Page and select the "How Can I" option
  • Click on "Current Inmates"
  • Next, click on "Search for Current Inmates."
  • Enter the inmate’s name or booking number into the appropriate name fields
  • Click "Submit" to initiate a database query.
  • The search results will show profiles of inmates matching the user’s description.

Searches conducted with a booking number are much more accurate and usually eliminate one step in the search process. Name searches may produce an index of profiles sharing the same name, including the name of the specific inmate the user seeks. When searching with a name, the user can indicate the inmate’s Age, Race, and Gender by selecting the appropriate options on the search fields before clicking on "Submit". This can help refine search results and locate the specific inmate upon the first search.

If the user is certain that the inmate has been booked, but the online search result is not reflecting their profile, they can pay an in-person visit to the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office using the contact information below:

Inmate Search by Jail Facility

Because the John E. Polk Correctional Facility is the only jail facility in Seminole County, there are no separate jail rosters for looking up inmates in other correctional facilities within the county. Seminole County Inmate search for adults can only be conducted through the inmate search tool provided by the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office or by contacting the jail directly.

Individuals may sometimes confuse other types of facilities (such as juvenile centers, work release programs, or state prisons) with the county jail. These facilities operate under different conditions. These facilities operate under different authorities and may have separate search systems.

For example:

  • Juvenile detention facilities are managed by the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice and have separate inquiry procedures.
  • State prisons are operated by the Florida Department of Corrections and require searches through the state inmate locator system.
  • Federal facilities require searches through the Federal Bureau of Prisons
